BackGround Checks Save You Money

BackGround Checks Save You Money

As a business owner, you probably know that your business’ most important assets are usually intangible. But it might surprise you to know the true costs of your most important “purchase”- a new employee. One estimate places the cost of hiring at up to a third of a person’s salary. Hiring the wrong employee can be even more expensive: some estimates place costs at up to twice an employee’s annual salary. Smart hiring decisions depend not just on cold, hard facts, but also on how well a prospect “fits” with your organization.

Though employee interviews, conversations with references, and trusted referrals are all very useful when it comes to hiring, sometimes they are not enough. In some cases, a professional background check might be necessary.

If you’re in an industry that requires advanced professional certifications or association memberships (medicine, accounting, law, engineering, etc.) or own a business where criminal background checks are mandatory (for example, the trucking industry, or positions where the employee will have contact with children, the elderly, or the disabled) you’ll probably need a more extensive check.

Many businesses choose to outsource this service, through organizations like Accudiagnostics. Though public records including bankruptcies, previous addresses, and home ownership information can be obtained for free, it is time consuming to find. Businesses that need specific information on a prospective employee often find that using a professional background screening service is the easiest way to find it. Employment screening companies offer service packages for every business need. You can even perform as search by state, by county, or request verification of specific information. Most employment background checks actually verify information an applicant has already provided.
You can use background service to verify or obtain the following information:

  • Social Security numbers
  • Criminal records
  • Civil judgment records
  • Driving records
  • Credit reports
  • Employment verification

The most basic background check is a Social Security number and address search. With this information, you can verify an applicant’s identity for a more thorough search (education records, etc). For the majority of searches, you must notify the prospective employee if you plan on using the above information for hiring decisions.

Whether you’re using a background check to verify employee qualifications or to check on the accuracy of claims included on an applicant’s resume, using a background check service can be one of the best ways to make sure you comply with federal laws and regulations that govern hiring discrimination. For more information about employee background checks, visit Accudiagnostics.com and schedule your appointment today.

News about Jaycee Dugard’s rescue after she went missing 18 years ago was on the television all last week. Security officer Ally Jacobs ran a background check on Phillip Garrido, who allegedly abducted Jaycee at the age of 11. From this background check, Garrido’s criminal record was revealed to Jacobs and he was arrested.

Background checks are a way for property owners to find out if the applicant has a criminal background or poor credit history. Employers can find out if potential employees have not revealed that they have committed a felony or have been arrested for DUIs. Schools can do an employment screening on a potential worker to see if there is any history of being a sexual predator.

When having a background check conducted by AccuDiagnostics you can choose to have one done at the federal, state, or county levels, or an internal or Canadian search. Information that can be obtained is a person’s education history, arrests and criminal records, bankruptcy filings, driving records and military service records. Education history is to verify that a person has graduated from high school or received a GED and it can verify whether a person completed a higher education degree. Some employers have requested SAT scores, too.

Criminal record checks have four levels. The first level is criminal convictions that have not been pardoned. Level two includes criminal convictions that have not been pardoned and outstanding charges. Level three includes information from level two plus discharges that have not been removed. Level four includes level three and checks databases at the local level, plus checks the court and law enforcement agencies databases.

Bankruptcy filings would be in a financial information background check. Credit scores, liens and civil judgments maybe in this type of report. Driving records are checked usually by jobs that hire drivers. The information obtained on a driving records report is a person’s accident and traffic ticket history. When an employer checks a person’s military service history the information obtained is the reason for military discharge.

Before hiring a potential applicant or accepting a person to live as a tenant in your apartment complex, you can have a quick and simple background check completed. By taking a moment to do a background check, it can save a person’s life, help a missing child be rescued, save a business from criminal activity, verify information an applicant filled out on their application and more.

All of us heard about celebrities infidelities, i.e., Jude Law’s affair with the nanny, Morgan Freeman was in a car accident with his other woman, rumors circulated about Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie when Brad was married to Jennifer Aniston, Eddie Murphy and his street “companion,” Hugh Grant and Divine Brown and Jon Gosselin’s mid-life crisis is on the news, in the magazines and on the net weekly. We can thank the paparazzi for keeping us informed of all the Hollywood infidelities. What does a person do if they are not a celebrity and they suspect that their mate is cheating on them? Infidelity testing can confirm whether your spouse, boyfriend, girlfriend or significant other is being unfaithful.

Infidelity testing can be performed on soiled material from bodily fluids. As long as the article of clothing has not been washed, semen can be found on the piece of material for up to two years. All of us remember how President Bill Clinton’s affair with Monica Lewinsky was confirmed. If you suspect that your husband or boyfriend is cheating on you, a man will secrete semen onto his underwear or bed sheets for up to two hours after the sexual encounter. However, women secrete semen for up to 72 hours. It doesn’t matter if a woman has showered after the sexual encounter, because semen will still secrete from a woman after sex. If the man your wife or girlfriend is cheating with had a vasectomy, there will not be any DNA to test in the seminal fluid.

If semen is found on the material tested for infidelity, a forensic infidelity test can be conducted to compare DNA. The best samples for DNA are a swab, hair or blood, but dried blood on an object, dried stains on undergarments, dried saliva from a stamp, razor shavings or tissue from a deceased individual can also be tested. If a husband suspects his wife is sleeping with another man, the DNA comparison will be with the husband’s DNA. The DNA profiling can tell the husband if the DNA in the bodily fluid is his or if it’s someone else’s semen. Plus, the DNA profiling can inform the husband whether the bodily fluid (if not semen) is from a man.

AccuDiagnostics offers infidelity testing of bodily fluids and blood on materials. Other items that can be tested at AccuDiagnostics are:

·    Cigarette butts
·    Dental floss
·    Ear wax
·    Razor clippings
·    Gum
·    Toothpicks
·    Used Kleenex

Forensic infidelity testing is also available at AccuDiagnostics.
