LOS ANGELES DRUG-TESTING COMPANY ENCOURAGES BUSINESSES TO PARTICIPATE IN NATIONAL DRUG-FREE WORK WEEK
ARCpoint to offer specials on drug testing to help companies with costs associated with becoming drug free.
LOS ANGELES, CA - ARCpoint, a Los Angeles-based drug-testing company, is offering a week of free clinics on drug abuse in workplaces and families as part of National Drug-Free Work Week, the company announced Thursday.
American businesses lose about $81 billion annually due to lost productivity from drug and alcohol abuse. Employed drug users are more likely to be involved in a workplace accident, file a workers' compensation claim, request early dismissal, have extended absences and be late for work. "Drug-Free Work Week is a perfect time to remind employers and employees alike that reducing workplace alcohol and drug abuse is a crucial part of keeping workers safe," said Elena Carr, drug policy coordinator at the Labor Department. "Of course, in a safe and healthful workplace, every week should be Drug-Free Work Week." The Hazelden Foundation, a national nonprofit organization that helps people reclaim their lives from the disease of addiction, found that while most human resources practitioners recognize substance abuse and addiction as among the most serious problems faced in today's workplace, few companies proactively address these issues with their employees.
